Gardening With Children - Safely

Getting your children to help out with the gardening can be both a fun and educational experience as it’s an engaging outdoor activity that can involve the entire family. This time of year is perfect to start planting up the flower beds and choosing which vegetables to grow. It is however important to ensure your little ones are safe whilst in the garden. • Household animals may use your garden so be sure to clean the garden of any faeces to avoid your child touching it. These contain parasites which could cause various illnesses in a child.

• All chemicals or soil enhancers must be kept away from the child, preferably locked someplace safe.

• Also you do not want the child putting stuff like berries and leaves into their mouths. Not all will be edible and some can also be poisonous.

• Do apply sun block and insect repellent products on the child to ensure the child gets no fatal nor dangerous bites.
