Getting your children to help out with the gardening can be both a fun and educational experience as it’s an engaging outdoor activity that can involve the entire family. This time of year is perfect to start planting up the flower beds and choosing which vegetables to grow. It is however important to ensure your little ones are safe whilst in the garden. By using adequate child safety products and
baby safety equipment you can ensure fun is had all round and no accidents occur.
When we think of gardening we don’t often think about dirty mud, pollen from plants, the scorching sun and the likes, which can be harmful to children so it is not without reason that there are certain safety measures and child safety products that must and can be adopted when gardening with children.
To make sure that the gardening experience is healthy and fun, safety in the garden should be given utmost importance through the use of baby safety equipment.
Apart from securely fencing your garden with safety gates there are few more points that should be kept in mind at all times:
• Basic Common sense but I’ll say it "Never leave the child unsupervised in the garden". Adult supervision must be sought for at all times, even if you’re only going to answer the phone as it only takes a minute for something to happen.
• Do not leave the child near a pond, or any source of water as it only takes around 2 inches of water for your little one to be in danger of drowning.
• Keep all electrical tools and garden machinery out of the reach of children.
• Check all play and baby safety equipments for wear and tear, and resultant danger levels.
• Household animals may use your garden so be sure to clean the garden of any faeces to avoid your child touching it. These contain parasites which could cause various illnesses in a child.
• All chemicals or soil enhancers must be kept away from the child, preferably locked someplace safe.
• Also you do not want the child putting stuff like berries and leaves into their mouths. Not all will be edible and some can also be poisonous.
• Do apply sun block and insect repellent products on the child to ensure the child gets no fatal nor dangerous bites.
